Inhoud van de cursus (alleen in het Engels beschikbaar)

Studens write an individual research proposal and thesis, but do so in the framework of a thesis circle consisting of four students plus a supervisor. The whole cyclus starts with an intro meeting at the end of September in which supervisors present the broad topic of their circle and students can register their circle preferences. After the circle composition has been made, circles will have meetings very three weeks until the end of December to be planned by the supervisor. In this first stage, students will define a problem statement with a clear research question and will contact the institutional framework or organization in which they plan to carry out their research. Problem statement plus statement of access to an organization or required institutions need to be handed in at the end of December. They provide the input for the second stage from the second week in January onwards until the first week of February in which students will develop a full-blown research proposal in circle meetings twice a week. They hand in their proposal at February 8 and have the grade February 28 at the latest from their supervisor and second reader. After a go, students can start carrying out their research plan and write their thesis from that moment onwards, which will constitute the third stage of the whole process. Retakes will be scheduled in the beginning of June . In the third stage, there will be circle meetings every three weeks either face to face of long-distance. In the third week of June there will be a special circle meeting in which the supervisor and second reader give their comments on the thesis so far. If they get a go, they can hand in their final thesis on June 27. If not, they can hand in their thesis on August 15.
