At the end of the course:
  • The student has knowledge of the industrial relations on the following levels: organisation, industry or sector, national (the Netherlands), international.
  • The student has learrned theoretical concepts to analyse industrial and employee relations.
  • The student has understanding of the differing positions of the actors in industrial relations and the logic of thier patterns of action and interaction.


In this course the relations between de main actorsv in the field of industrial relations will be addressed. Starting form the concept of the 'employment relationship' the employee relations within the organisation will be analysed. In addition the institutional pattern of external regulation of employment relations in the industrial relations system will be dealt with. After a theoretical exploration there will be special attention to the logics of action of the main actors (employers' organisations, trade unions and government) in the field.


This course was last offered in the academic year 2011/2012. The course is no langer part of the current programme. In 2012/2013 there will be at least one additional re-examination in accordance with OER (TER).
